OUTDOOR BUILDS, DONE PROPERLY
Three things we build more than anything else on the coast.
DECKS
Hardwood, treated pine and composite decks, from a simple landing to a full entertaining deck. Properly footed frames and fixings made for coastal air.
Pergolas & outdoor areas
Covered pergolas, patios and outdoor rooms that make a backyard work in all weather. Timber or steel, with approvals checked before we quote.
FENCING & GATES
Hardwood, treated pine and composite decks, from a simple landing to a full entertaining deck. Properly footed frames and fixings made for coastal air.
A BUILDER, NOT A HANDYMAN
A deck or pergola is a structure, not a weekend job. Footings, framing, bearers and fixings decide whether it's still square in ten years.
Grant McKenna holds a NSW and QLD Class 1 builder's licence and started in heritage building and masonry in the UK at 17. That same attention to detail goes into every deck and fence we build here.

Built for the
Northern Rivers
The Northern Rivers is hard on timber. Salt air at Byron Bay and Brunswick Heads, humidity and flooding in the Tweed, and strong UV everywhere all change how a deck or fence ages. We choose timber, fixings and finishes to suit your location, whether that’s a beachside deck at South Golden Beach or a hinterland pergola near Mullumbimby.

QUESTIONS
WE GET ASKED
-
Sometimes. Approval requirements can depend on the size, height, location and design of the structure. We can help identify what may be required for your project and guide you through the next steps before work begins.
-
For coastal homes, we recommend durable materials that can handle moisture, salt air and changing weather conditions. Hardwoods such as spotted gum and blackbutt are popular choices, along with quality composite decking for a lower-maintenance option. We’ll recommend the best fit based on your location, budget and the look you’re after.
-
Yes. We can assess your existing deck and determine whether it can be repaired, partially rebuilt or needs replacing. This can include damaged boards, stairs, handrails, framing and structural components.
-
The cost depends on the size, materials, site access, height and complexity of the build. Once we’ve discussed your project and inspected the site where required, we can provide a clear quote based on the scope of work.
-
It depends on the size and complexity of the project. Smaller decks may only take a few days, while larger decks, pergolas or more detailed outdoor builds can take longer. We’ll give you a realistic timeframe before construction starts and keep you updated throughout the job.
-
Not always. Many standard residential fences don't need it, but requirements vary with height, location and the property. We help you work out what applies before the job begins.
-
Yes. We remove old or damaged fencing and replace it with new posts, panels, gates and other components where required.
